Aotearoa New Zealand, through Ministry for Primary Industries and New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade , is proud support Biosecurity Solomon Islands to build resilience into Solomon Islands’ biosecurity system leading into the Sol2023 XVII Pacific Games.

High Commissioner Jonathan Schwass was pleased to hand over a new van for biosecurity staff operations to Permanent Secretary Lottie Vaisekavea yesterday. Other support from NZ to strengthen Pacific Games’ preparedness includes improvements to the biosecurity clearance zone at Henderson Airport’s arrivals terminal, provision of computer equipment for border office staff, and supply of signage and printed materials to convey important biosecurity messaging.

As we approach the Pacific Games 2023, it is important that all Pacific countries all work together to prevent the introduction of diseases such as Foot and Mouth Disease and African Swine Fever that can threaten our shared livelihoods and economies across the region.
