P17 - Taro tissue culture from Pacific countries

SPECIFIC IMPORT REQUIREMENTS FOR:

 

 

Taro - Colocasia esculenta - Plant Tissue Cultures

 

 

From Pacific Island Countries

 

 

1.            Cultures imported as sterile plantlets growing in tissue culture medium must have been grown in the vessel in which they were imported.  The vessel must be clear glass or plastic.

 

2.            The consignment must be accompanied by a Phytosanitary Certificate which must have the following Additional Declarations:

 

(i)            “The cultures have been inspected and are free of any contaminating organisms”

 

(ii)           “The cultures have been derived from parent stock which has been tested and found free of the following viruses:

·         dasheen mosaic virus (French Polynesia strain)”.

 

(iii)          Extra Additional Declarations for plantlets recently removed from culture:

“These plantlets were removed from the original culture container(s) in which they were grown, not more than 48 hours before export, and have not been in contact with any other growing media”.
